Rodney Anderson, better known by his magnetic stage persona, Rodney Chrome, is a Little Rock, AK born, Brooklyn, NY based multi-hyphenated talent. Triple-threat doesn’t begin to describe Rodney Chrome. Not only does he write all of his own music, he is an accomplished composer for the screen as well. In 2022 Chrome scored “Grown Up” a Disney+ show executively produced by Bri Larson and, more recently, had his songs and compositions featured in Hulu’s “Hair Tales'' Executively Produced by Traci Ellis Ross, Oprah and Michaela Angela Davis. In addition, Chrome not only choreographs all of the dances featured in his music videos and live performances, and there’s a strong chance he made the ensembles you see him wearing. An all around creative, Rodney Chrome graduated from NYU’s prestigious Clive Davis School of Music in 2022, delivering his class’ commencement speech with Taylor Swift in his background.
Rodney entered the music industry to much acclaim, receiving write-ups in The Fader and Paper Magazine for his singles “Pulpit” and “Premium Goods” off his debut project “QUEER PRESSURE” released in 2020. Chrome’s commitment to exploring the boundaries of Pop, R&B and Hip-Hop with his own electronic maximalist approach to musicality, and his identifiably playful yet powerful lyrical and vocal styles are irreplicable, making him so much larger than any one genre. His unique approach to music as well as his commitment to building a visually stimulating artistic world through impeccably styled and choreo-driven music videos landed Chrome on AFROPUNK’s radar. In 2021 Chrome was a featured performer at the AFROPUNK NYC festival along with acts like Doechii and Earl Tierra Whack. Chrome also gave a live recorded performance of ___ on AFROPUNK’s digital platform Channel Interface.
Returning in 2022 with the release of his A/B side EP “Ghetto Popstar Vol.1” and another striking visual for the project’s single “To the Money”, Chrome has amassed over 55K organic views on the music video and 150K streams across DSP’s, while also receiving glowing reviews from outlets like V Man magazine and “Ones to Watch” who stated
“When it comes to Ones To Watch, it’s within your best interest to bookmark this one before the world (or at the very least, Beyoncé) gets a hold of him.”
Chrome is currently preparing to release his first offering of 2023 titled “Break the Internet”, coming in April. This track continues to call genre into question while delivering classically high-quality listening and viewing experiences. In 2023, Chrome intends to elevate, and, through this first single, he invites his audience to ascend with him.
