Warner Chappell Chairman & CEO Les Bider will be the recipient of the 2004
Abe Olman Award. Warner Chappell controls literally thousands of compositions, making the
company one of the largest music publishers in the world, and Les Bider,
through his savvy and entrepreneurial spirit, has taken his company places
where few thought a music publisher could ever go. Over the years, Les has
struck deals with many of today’s hottest artists and songwriters, such as
Sheryl Crow, Led Zeppelin, Dido and Nickelback, among many others. His drive and determination in all areas of Warner Chappell’s operations ultimately
expanded the company globally and increased its revenues tenfold during the
first 10 years with the firm. Les Bider also sits on many industry and
community Boards of Directors and Trustees, and has been honored with the
Children’s Choice Award from Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles, the Neil
Bogart Memorial Foundation Award, the Robert Greenberg Memorial Award for
Outstanding Leadership in the Jewish Community, the American Diabetes Father of the Year Award and the Governor’s Award from the Recording Academy.
