Professional Songwriting “Boot Camp,” with Billy Sideman

This workshop empowers students by accelerating their songwriting skills through special materials and assignments developed exclusively for THE SONG WRITERS HALL OF FAME SONGWRITING BOOTCAMP. Three to four weeks into the eight week course, students begin to notice and distinguish the numerous smart decisions hit songwriters make and begin applying them to their own songs. The comprehensive class includes weekly writing assignments, critiques, song analysis, live demonstrations, live performance, visits from industry pros and a healthy, supportive environment to explore, take chances and excel. The cost of this eight week course is $350.

Mastering The Music Business Maze, with Marcy Drexler

This workshop will cover the “song” (melody, structure, lyrics) from the viewpoints of a music publisher, a music supervisor for film and television, and a record company A&R rep. Topics covered will include publishing and performing rights organizations (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC); packaging and marketing (bios, photos, press kits), copyrighting and networking. Important source materials will be distributed. A high-level industry executive will be a special guest who will speak about the current state of the music business and listen to songs by workshop attendees. Marcy’s ten week course is $300.
