About the Songwriters Hall of Fame

To encourage new songwriters and offer necessary input and guidance in the music industry, SHOF has developed several programs to achieve this goal:

• Workshops intended to bring information and inspiration to the songwriters of tomorrow.

• Networking meetings and seminars that introduce songwriters to music industry professionals, including publishers, producers, managers, label executives and established songwriters, to enlighten and educate attendees on both the craft and the business aspects of songwriting.

• Songwriter Showcases offer a chance for up-and-coming songwriters to perform original material at various venues throughout New York City.

Each year, SHOF is responsible for awarding the coveted Abe Olman Scholarships for Excellence in Songwriting to five gifted young lyricists and composers chosen from songwriter programs sponsored by ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, SGA and NAPM.

SHOF makes available further support, promotional services and activities for young songwriters as well as publications of our newsletter, Words About Music.

Through these programs, publications and scholarships, The Songwriters Hall of Fame provides an opportunity to support a new generation of songwriters in the music business.
